John Parker Bolt |
The year of John's birth is unknown, but it is probable that he was born in Laurens County (Ninety-Six District) South Carolina. He was the son of Rachel Hellams. He became a member of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church on 8 Apr 1826. Church minutes record that he became a deacon on 7 Apr 1832 and was ordained a Baptist minister on 7 Sep 1844. The minutes of 12 Feb 1848 include a resolution honoring the late Rev. John Bolt. John's brother, William Parker Bolt, and wife, Anna Cunningham Bolt are buried in Chestnut Ridge's cemetery. John married Elizabeth Yeargin, who was born abt. 1804/5 as listed in the 1860 Laurens County, South Carolina census.
