Hiram Fuller |
| Hiram Fuller, was born abt. 1803,
probably in New York. He married Angeline Stocum, born abt. 1809, New York.
Her parents were Isaac Stocum and Annie Ourie . They had a child Arthur Ward Fuller, (later called Artemus) born June 1830 in Bloomfield, Ontario, NY. The family soon moved to Nelson, Portage, OH where eight more children were born: John, Herkimer, Susan, Bradley, Lydia, Jane, Arthur Clayton, and Anna. The family then moved to Walworth, Walworth Co., Wisconsin where two more children were born: Frank James (1849) and Daniel (1851). In 1852 the family moved to Winfield, Sauk, Wisconsin. From The History of Reedsburg and the Upper Baraboo Valley by Merton Edwin Krug, February, 1929, page 395: "The year of 1852 brought many permanent settlers to Winfield. Of these the Hiram Fuller family was probably the first, the date of their arrival being given as February 12th. They settled on the farm now occupied by Victor Craker. They were natives of the East and descendants of Edward Fuller, a Mayflower Pilgrim. There were many children, two of whom became prominent people of Winfield, Clayton, who married Ellen Kelly, and occupied the old homestead, and whose daughter Clara, Mrs. Lewis Hyzer, resides in Reedsburg; and Artimas, who married Harriett Kelly, and settled on property now owned by William Wagner. Artimas's son John D. Fuller, now owns the Edwin Kelly farm, a daughter Belle being the wife of Wilbur Douglas, resides in Reedsburg." Family legend has it that "Hiram went to Wisconsin and his brothers went to Michigan. Hiram's brothers all had biblical names, such as Aaron, Joshua, Shubel, and I believe Isaac, and John"
