William Parker Bolt

William was born 5 Mar 1790*, probably in Laurens County (Ninety-Six District) South Carolina.  He was the son of Rachel Hellams.

William is named in Robert Bolt Sr.'s deed, "...my wife Rachel Boult & her son William Parker Bolt"...

His wife Anna Cunningham was born 17 Mar 1795 and is buried beside him in Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church cemetery.

Children:

John

James

*Transcriptions in "Epitaphs of Old Burying Grounds: Church Cemeteries, Laurens County S.C. " by Col. James L. Bolt and Margaret E. Bolt list the following:
William P. (Pinckney) Bolt, March 5, 1790 - July 22, 1867
Anna Bolt, his wife, March 17, 1795 - Aug. 6 1863?

As noted by John P. Bolt descendant, Courtenay Vaughan, the 1790 birth date for William conflicts with the 1788 will of William Hellams, which states "I give and bequeath___dau Rachel Allison and her son, John Parker."  This would put William's date of birth AFTER Rachel's marriage to an Allison.

So how did William end up with the Parker middle name in Robert Sr.'s will?  Was William a Parker, Allison, or a Bolt?  Or were Robert and Rachel so fond of the Parker family that they gave William the name for his middle name? (It is known that the Parkers were friends and neighbors to the Bolts for many generations.) Could "Pinckney" be the correct middle name for William?

DNA testing may help to solve this mystery.
